Integrated, Body-Based Mental Health Care
Psychotherapy is offered as part of our integrated rehabilitation clinic to support the connection between the body, nervous system, and mental health. This service is especially helpful for individuals experiencing pain, injury, stress, trauma, or difficulty healing despite physical treatment alone.
By supporting nervous system regulation, psychotherapy can enhance physical recovery, reduce persistent symptoms, and improve overall wellbeing.
How psychotherapy supports physical healing
Stress and trauma can keep the nervous system in a state of survival, contributing to chronic pain, muscle tension, fatigue, and slowed recovery. Psychotherapy helps the body feel safer and more regulated which allows physical rehabilitation to be more effective.
This integrated approach can support:
- Reduce pain and muscle guarding
- Improve tolerance for physical rehabilitation
- Increase body awareness and breath
- Greater emotional resilience during recovery
Therapy Approach
Somatic & Nervous-System–Informed Psychotherapy
This therapy focuses on both mind and body, recognizing that stress and trauma are often held physically. Sessions gently explore present-moment experiences, bodily sensations, and nervous system responses.
Therapy may include:
- Psychoeducation on the nervous system
- Mindfulness and grounding practices
- Body awareness and sensation tracking
- Regulation and vagal toning tools
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Sessions are collaborative and client-led, combining talk therapy with practical body-based tools. Clients are supported in learning skills they can use both during sessions and in daily life to improve regulation and resilience.
Sessions are paced collaboratively and prioritize safety, consent, and choice.
Psychotherapy can be helpful for:
- Chronic or persistent pain
- Injury recovery and rehabilitation
- Medical or accident-related trauma
- Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
- Dissociation or difficulty being present
- Sleep difficulties
- Emotional distress connected to physical symptoms
